YoungArts has partnered with Bay Parc Apartments to feature works by Miami-based YoungArts Alumni in Visual Arts, Photography, Design Arts, or Cinematography that open new aesthetics and conceptual territories and explore a variety of subjects such as abstraction, architecture, space, and the complexities of contemporary life. This program will allow YoungArts alumni to work as an artist in residence for one month at Bay Parc Apartments in South Florida, and will culminate with an installation and exhibition of the artist’s work.
Overview expectations, and deliverables:
Artists must submit a detailed proposal of their plans for the space including an artist statement, work samples, a preliminary budget, and timeline. YoungArts can advise later on budgeting for installation fees. Once participation is confirmed, YoungArts will arrange a site-visit to the property.
Artists will receive a $5,000.00 USD fee (inclusive of artist fee, materials and installation costs) as well as access to the space for a 4-6 week period. During this period, the artist will create and install and exhibition of work that will be on view at Bay Parc for approximately 8 weeks or more.
As part of this residency, the artist will also participate in 2-3 ancillary events, separate of the exhibition opening. These events may include, but are not limited to, an Up Close & Personal breakfast (which includes a panel discussion with the artist) or cocktail for YoungArts members, open studio hours (for members of the public, students and/or members), master classes (with local students and/or YoungArts alumni), a public Q&A, or in-school educational opportunities. YoungArts will work with the artist to design the most appropriate events.

Photos and Dimensions of the Space:
While YoungArts does not censor artist’s work, Bay Parc Apartments is home to many families and members of the community. We ask artists to consider this and refrain from producing defamatory or extremely explicit works.
Exhibition Opening - YoungArts will produce the exhibition opening event, including creating and coordinating all marketing materials, catering, event set up, audience outreach and signage. YoungArts may photograph and/or digitally record the performances or any public events relating to the residency.
*Once the artist is confirmed a formal independent artist agreement will be sent.*
